Great breakfast or snack.
Pictured smoothie is Peach and Mango. There's no real point in taking pictures of all the possible tasty combinations because as soon as you add Spirulina to the mix it goes green.
Mango is probably my very, very favourite fruit. When it's in season and I find a supplier of GOOD mangoes, I buy up. Same goes for the other fruit. Blend and put into ice cube trays. When frozen, pop into a sealed plastic bag. Add to smoothies all year to get the flavour you want. Normally I just drop in an ice cube size of whatever flavour I feel like on the day. Mango and Raspberries are a nice combo.
Brisbane City markets has a fantastic strawberry and raspberry supplier. All grown at the family farms. That's all they sell and they do it very well. Unless they change positions, you will find them right next to the herb and veggie pot plant sellers where I got my first taste of French Sorrel. Another quality product.
Front stall at Brisbane CBD sells Sunshine Coast Blueberries. Plump and full of flavour.
My strawberry supplier as well as preferred mango seller also have a stall at the Cannon Hill markets. Cannon Hill markets started off with so much promise. Would be a shame to see them die out. It's a bit of a drive for me but was a great place to get organic free range turkey (can buy online from same supplier), Reed avocados (Northey St Markets also have now), fresh greens such as Mustard Green's, Baby Spinach, Rocket etc and some of the best olives I have tasted.
Bananas go off in the heat so quick. Again I freeze after peeling. Because of their relatively high carb content I only use one third to a half. Just snap off a portion and add to mix. Monkey bananas from Brisbane Farmer's in the CBD were a good find. Small enough to use as one serve and a lovely addition to the smoothie.
From everything I have read, micro filtered whey protein isolate is the best choice. Currently I am using Eagle Nutrition, but there are many good quality brands on the market. Just pick the one with the highest protein and lowest additives.
Again from reading, allowing the Chia seeds to soak extends their benefits.
My preference is Barambah Natural Yoghurt. To me nothing compares. In fact, now, if i can't get it, I don't have yoghurt. Some things are worth waiting for.
